Product information:
Drug name: Estring
Generic name: Estradiol
Hemihydrate Strengths: 2mg
Formulations: Vaginal ring
What is Estring
Estring ring is used to treat estrogen deficiency-related vaginal and urinary symptoms in postmenopausal women. Urogenital atrophy (thinning and drying of the tissue of the urinary system and vagina) can occur as estrogen levels decline with menopause. Vaginal dryness, genital itching, burning, and pain during intercourse, as well as a sense of urinary urgency and pain when urinating, are all symptoms of urogenital atrophy.
The core of the Estring is a drug reservoir containing 2 mg of estradiol (an estrogen medicine). Estradiol is released into the vaginal canal in a regular and steady way.
Usage
Estring is a flexible silicon ring that is worn in the vaginal canal for three months. Hands should be washed and dried before contacting the ring. Place the ring high in the vaginal canal, as instructed. The ring is usually worn for no more than 90 days before it is removed and replaced.
Continuous Estring therapy for a maximum of two years is suggested. If the ring is properly positioned, you should not be able to feel it, and it should not interfere with sexual activity. If the ring causes any discomfort, gently push it upward with your finger.
Clean the ring with lukewarm water and reinsert it if it comes out of the vaginal canal. Consult your doctor if the ring falls out regularly. The ring may be removed by wrapping your finger around it and gently pulling it out. Toss the used ring out with the trash. The full benefits of this medication may take up to three weeks to appear.
