Indications
- Vardenafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
- It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation to help achieve and maintain an erection.
- Vardenafil does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. Practice safe sex, such as using condoms.
Dosage and administration
- Vardenafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
- Take vardenafil by mouth, as directed by your doctor, usually about 1 hour before sexual activity. Do not take it more than once a day.
- The dose depends on your health and other medications you take. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, and herbal products.
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking vardenafil, as it can increase side effects.
- Talk to your doctor if your ED does not improve.
Side effects
- Vardenafil may cause headache, flushing, stuffy/runny nose, dizziness, vision changes, or trouble telling blue and green colors apart. Tell your doctor if any of these effects last or worsen.
- Get up slowly to avoid dizziness.
- Sexual activity can be strenuous, especially for people with heart problems. If you experience severe dizziness, fainting, chest pain, nausea during sex, stop vardenafil and seek immediate medical help.
- Rarely, vardenafil may cause sudden vision loss, hearing loss, or a prolonged erection. Seek immediate medical help if you experience any of these.
- Get medical help right away for seizures or temporary memory loss.
- Allergic reactions are also rare, but seek medical help immediately if you experience rash, itching/swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing.
Precautions
- Talk to your doctor before taking vardenafil if you have any allergies, heart problems, history of stroke, kidney or liver disease, blood pressure problems, dehydration, penis conditions, bleeding disorders, stomach ulcers, or eye problems.
- Vardenafil may cause dizziness or vision changes. Avoid alcohol, marijuana, driving, machinery, or activities requiring alertness or clear vision until you feel safe.
- Tell your doctor or dentist about all your medications before having surgery.
- Vardenafil is not for women and unlikely to be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for more information.
