Indications

Dosage and administration
- The recommended dosage of Provera for the treatment of secondary amenorrhea is 5 to 10 milligrams (mg) orally once daily for 5 to 10 days.
- Provera may be initiated at any time in the menstrual cycle, but administration typically begins on the 16th or 21st day after the onset of menstruation.
- For the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance, the usual dosage of Provera is 5 to 10 mg orally once daily for 5 to 10 days.
- Provera may also be used as part of hormone replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms, with dosages ranging from 2.5 to 10 mg orally once daily for 12 to 14 days of each 28-day cycle.
- Follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider carefully.
- Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water.
- If a dose of Provera is missed, take it as soon as remembered, unless it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose to catch up.
- It may take several days after completing the course of Provera for menstrual bleeding to occur. If menstruation does not occur within 2 weeks after stopping Provera, consult your healthcare provider.
Side effects
